my cousin ran away with her bf and they did court marriage. I knew about this but didn't know when and how she planned. I fear my name will be dragged as a police complaint is done. The couple shared court marriage proof to guy's family but have not come home. I fear that if my name and discussion is mentioned if police check their phones. They have not traced them and their phones areswitch-off. My cousin's family is rich and in power. What should I do to protect myself when I did not knew plan
When 2 consenting adults have married each other legally (i.e. via court marriage), there is nothing illegal in it. Also your act of hiding this fact is also not illegal as per law. Please make sure that your cousin and her husband has a court marriage certificate with them certifying that they have legally married.
In case there is any unforeseen situation in future where the Police tries to arrest you, make sure you move an Anticipatory Bail before Sessions Court for getting released on bail.
