Registration of marriage in Uttar Pradesh in Hindu family

I want to know that after following all the rituals of marriage in Hindu family in Uttar Pradesh amidst invited guests is registration of marriage required ? and if required * whether it should be done from the groom side or bride side? * whether it should be done after marriage or before marriage
