As a widow, you and your daughters can claim maintenance from your father-in-law if he has sufficient means, under Sec 19 of Hindu Adoptions & Maintenance Act. You may also seek residence and protection under DV Act if harassed.

As a widow, your mother-in-law is not legally bound to maintain you personally unless she has inherited the property of your deceased husband and you are dependent with no sufficient income. However, your minor daughters are legally entitled to maintenance from the estate of their deceased father. You may claim maintenance for your children under Section 20 of the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, if applicable, against the father’s property in possession of in-laws. If you are residing in the shared household, you also have a right of residence under the Domestic Violence Act. You may issue a legal notice first and, if required, file appropriate proceedings before the Family Court. Keep income proof and property details ready before taking action.

hello,The widow and children are residing in a joint family property, or The mother-in-law is in possession of or enjoying the property/income of the deceased son, or The property is ancestral or jointly inherited, and the widow and children have a legal share in it. If the deceased husband has left behind property, pension, PF, gratuity, insurance or any other estate, the widow and daughters have a legal right to claim their share and maintenance from such estate.
