My wife claimed that 20 lakh was spent in marriage

My wife claimed that 20 lakh was spent in marriage. She gave a list of all the expenses and claimed that we took 15 lakh in cash from her parents. There was no give or take of money. Her signed list of things and cash list is attached in the chargesheet. I have come to know that one can file an Income Tax complain and then the IT department does its own investigation. What is the procedure and how long does it take to get these reports. Will it be fruitful? Please tell me honestly. Thank you!

In your case going to IT will take time and money and will not be fruitful. Rather if there's no scope of living together then rather stretching the relationship you should file for contested divorce under the ground of cruelty. I would suggest you to go with mutual divorce because it's cost effective and ends up in a maximum of six months.

Generally people take such kind of pleas on the court and they also add that they borrowed it from relatives or friends ! Income tax department doesn’t take much interest in such cases and if otherwise then can only put penalties on the amount! However u have signed list which doesn’t have records ! Would advise you to take a Consultation from an advocate having expertise in matrimonial laws. Certain facts needs to be confirmed as to what all litigations are pending and would like to legally peruse the pleadings filed. So far this 498A case is concerned you can file a quashing petition before High Court or move a discharge application
