My parents threating me to share my money

21-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
hey I am 24 years old living in canada as a student , my parents were physically and mentally abusive from the day i was born . when i didnt select the field that they wanted me to select they asked me to leave the house and after few months and so i did , i was 20 years old and no where to go and after a lot of struggle i did manage to get myself a good job in a trading frim outside india and then i saved up enough money for my college as of now i am now here studying history major . after all this time they contacted me somehow and after a little bit of chit chat they asking me for money as i said i dont have any they made claims they "legally allowed" to have right on my money . i think they are refarrring to the maintaince and welfare act 2007 which states monthly allowance upto 10KINR even an indian living outside of india . I dont want to share any of my money. What if in few years if i get a canadian citizenship , will i still come under that law? that i wont be citizen of india

The legal aspect and applicability of the Citizens Act and any other law would be secondary here. Firstly, if the proceeding can happen then that would be under the Senior Citizens Maintenance Act which mandates the protection of parents/ senior citizens. Secondly, if you don't want to maintain your parents who left you on your own in past then you must confront the authorities with your part of the story and that will only help you. As your parents had left you to survive on your own then theydon'tt have the right over your money or belongings.
