07-Oct-2023 (In Family Law)
I'm Hindu. I'm . My parents are not giving me any freedom. They are mentally and physically torturing me. They are not giving me to study in my choice. They are always comparing me with other children and often comments on me on my weakness. Always they have misunderstanding on me. They torchures me mentally without even knowing that if really I did wrong or not. They never tried to gave a single second for me to discuss with me to know what is going in my mind or any matter, whether I really did wrong or not. Always they tells me to die. Even one day I had tried to suicide by drinking phenol. And one day my mom gave a cloth and said to tie on fan and hang myself. And one day my dad brought a knife and tried to kill me but later he cut my left hand through that knife. Always they had exposed me without knowing the real matter. And few days back both of them warned me to kill me. I can't even focus on anything bcoz of them. Each second I feel like 1 year.

Hello. Even before you can avail of legal recourse to your grievance, if the nature of cruelty being meted out to you by your parents as alleged by you is of such grave nature that your life is in danger, you must first seek help by going to the nearest police station and safeguarding yourself. Moreover, you may also be in need of psychological/ psychiatric support from professionals in that field. Nevertheless, assuming that you are still a minor, you are protected under the THE JUVENILE JUSTICE (CARE AND PROTECTION OF CHILDREN)
ACT, 2015. Following provisions may be of much help to you:
Section 3(v): The primary responsibility of care, nurture
and protection of the child shall be that of the biological family or adoptive or foster
parents, as the case may be.
(vi) Principle of safety: All measures shall be taken to ensure that the child is
safe and is not subjected to any harm, abuse or maltreatment while in contact with the
care and protection system, and thereafter

Section 75. Whoever, having the actual charge of, or control over, a child, assaults, abandons,
abuses, exposes or wilfully neglects the child or causes or procures the child to be assaulted,
abandoned, abused, exposed or neglected in a manner likely to cause such child unnecessary
mental or physical suffering, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may
extend to three years or with fine of one lakh rupees or with both.

However, in case you are NOT a minor, then you are protected under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the police will do all that is necessary if you approach them. There are also many NGOs whom you can turn to by confiding in them. In any case, do not suffer silently as you seem to be young of age and have a lifetime of potential to fulfill. Hope the above suggestions help. Stay safe.
