Mental torture, pressure of marriage, separation
25-May-2023 (In Family Law)
Hi, I want to bring into your notice that my parents are pressuring me to get married but i don't want to and if I reject any marriage proposal they bully and torture me. This situation is unbearable for me now and i want to live alone without any interruption from them. What can i do please help me and i am 26 years old.
Dear querist,
As per a recent Supreme Court judgement which states that right to marry a partner of his or her choice is a fundamental right. In case you are being forced/harassed to marry the person you think don’t fit for you then:
This situation can be tackled by:
1. Either sending a legal notice to your parents which might suffice your requirement.
2. In case if it does not work then you have full right to approach the honourable Supreme Court under writ jurisdiction.

see you are an major adult, you have freedom of choice a bout your marriage. In case any body Compell s you to marry against your wish he is doing crime of inducement.
you hv option to complaint it in your nearest police station that these are the family members who are compelling you to marry against your wish police will advice them not to do so otherwise an action will be taken from them. However I advice you to think twice before taking this action against them as after all they are your well wishers.
