The marriage is not legally valid in India , as for a Hindu Marriage to be recognized in India both parties have to be Hindus . Both of you can try and register the martiage in UK it is possible . In India under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 , for a valid Hindu amongst the many test of validilty the foremost is both have to be Hindus.

As per Hindu rites only saptpadi is important. If saptpadi is performed during marriage that marriage is a valid marriage without any registration. There is not necessary of registration in India. So there marriage is a valid marriage. Thanks
