Is divorced earning daughter liable to maintain mother and sister

Is a divorced daughter who got govt job after her father's death liable to maintain her mother & sister who have definite source of income ?
In case the parents have no independent source of Income and not able to maintain themselves, a daughter who is self sufficient and working can be made liable to pay the maintenance to her ailing parents.

Mam, there is no compulsion or ruling for you maintaing your mom and sister, but if there is an order of court then you caa appeal agains it. You will be asked to file your income affidavit and your resons for the same. This case can be fought on merits and in your favour if fought through a well-versed counsel.

No, ideally if the parents have a definite source of income, in that case the daughter is not liable to maintain her mother and sister . you may refuse to maintain the vehemently. You may however choose to maintain them at your will.

The whole purpose of giving compassionate appointment to any family member of deceased is to make sure that the remaining members have some source of income to sustain themselves .As the daughter has got employement because of death of her father,she has obligation to look after mother and sister .
