I m major can i claim maintenance from parents

i am 25 year old woman. My family does not provide for me. they are not even supporting me, neither they are providing me with any food and nutrition while on the contrary they provide my younger sister with all the amenities. is there any legal right which i can exercise in this scenario ?

Certainly you can file a maintenance case. the case will be filed against your father if ur not married and not working .For any other query you can contact us for more details with complete information

Yes Definitely you are entitled for the maintenance depending on the circumstances ?The Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956, clearly states that as a general rule of law a major can not ask for maintenance from her parents ,but in case daughter is not married and unable to maintain herself out of her earnings or due to some other physically infirm conditions then in such a case the father is bound to maintain his legitimate or illegitimate daughter in such circumstances.

yes you claim your rights on any ancestral property which your family holds and not any property which is individually purchased by any of the family members. you can file a case in the court claiming such rights.
