Husband sent legal notice against wife for not giving him maintenance
29-Sep-2023 (In Family Law)
My husband is a government employee from village background. While getting married, my father made a condition that he lives in a town and allows me for job. They agreed for everything but after the marriage he didn't see a house in town. He made me stay in the village ,tortured me. So I came back to my father's house. I was conceived and my son was born. My husband and their family never spent a single rupee till date. After coming to my father's place, I started working as a lecturer in a college. With that income i am managing. After 2.5 years , my husband compromised, he saw a new house in a town and asked me to quit my job. i visit him in weekends. He never spent anything. So I wasn't sure whether to quit my job. So I decided to continue my job and visit him on weekends. Now he sent me legal notice saying that I am not serving him etc. And filed a case in court. My husband family had already tortured a girl ( his elder brother wife) and divorced her. what should I do?
you had not mentioned whether your husband has filed restitution of conjugal rights. if don't want to live with him then you can file divorce at proper court. if you want to live with him then make terms and conditions with your husband and his family. don't be in a double mind.

The wife has every right to lead a comfortable and dignified life as per standard of husband. He can't avoid liability of her maintenance by contending she is working and earning something to make ends meet. Income earned by wife is insufficient for her support. Therefore, it's for the husband to provide financial support to her during pendency of petition
