How to recover money given to in-laws during marriage?

I am hindhu women got married to same caste man in 2014 ours is arranged marriage..my parents gave 6 lakh rupees cash and 2 lakh rupees gold to my in laws at the time of marriage ..and they did marriage grandly .now we are planning to move to abroad so we asked my inlaws to give money that has given at the marriage they are saying its their money and i have no right on that....is it true .? How can i proceed on that?

For what purpose the money was given? And what evidence you have for having given it ? Is there such a custom in your community? Again now who are all planning to move abroad.? And what your husband says about this?
Recovering the amount through Court depends on answers to these questions.

You are required to file a case under domestic Violence act and claim that the property movable, belongs to you which was given to you by your parents having the status of streedhan.
Under section 12 of the domestic violence act you can proceed.

Giving and taking dowry is prohibit d under the Dowry Prohibition Act. If you your in laws have demanded and taken the dowry, you can ask your in-laws to return the same in order to avoid the prosecution under the d.p.act.
