In such situations, it’s important to take some precautionary steps to protect yourself: 1. Document Everything: Keep a record of all communications and interactions with your brother-in-law, especially any threats or inappropriate behavior. Save messages, call logs, or emails that indicate any threat. 2. Inform the Police: You may want to lodge a non-cognizable (NC) report or a general diary (GD) entry with the police. This will establish a record that you are facing threats. Explain that you are being threatened with a false case. If the situation escalates, this report may help. 3. Avoid Confrontation: Try to avoid direct confrontation or arguments with him, as this may provide him with opportunities to trap you in a situation or provoke a reaction that could be misrepresented. 4. Seek Legal Advice: A legal professional can guide you on preventive measures, such as filing for anticipatory bail if you feel a false criminal case may be filed against you. 5. Witness Support: If there are mutual contacts who are aware of the situation, their statements might be useful if things escalate. Would you like assistance with any specific step or legal action? If yes, then contact us. Adv. Mahinder Singh Mavi
