Engaged but canceled wedding due to lack of compatibility

14-Dec-2024 (In Family Law)
I got engaged after my family found a girl for an arranged marriage. After engagement i found the girl to be a liar, bad at academics, older than me, and incompatible. I cancelled the wedding and now the girl’s family is putting fake police complaint saying the marriage was schedule for tomorrow (a big lie, they have printed a fake invitation card, we never finalized a date after engagement) and they are now trying to extort money from us. How do i come out of this mess?

F. I. R has been filed or not kindly clear this if not you should approach and make a complaint against them along with all the mishappening had happened to you and now what they are saying each and everthing. If they still files complaint against you, then you can apprach Hon'ble High Court to quash that F. I. R. For more detail discussion you can whatsapp me or direct call.

First, remain calm and gather all evidence proving your innocence, such as conversations, lack of finalized wedding plans, and the absence of any agreement on a wedding date. File a written reply to the police complaint, refuting their allegations with proof like the fake invitation card and other inconsistencies. If they are extorting money, file a counter-complaint for criminal intimidation and extortion under Sections 383 and 503 IPC. Stay cooperative with the police but avoid any settlement under pressure.
