Community certificate of child

I want to get community certificate for my child. Me and my husband are separated but not legally. He left us and we are not in contact with each other. I don't have any documents related to my husband. Shall I get community certificate for my child with my caste using my community certificate. We are not getting any financial support from my husband. Is it possible to get mother's caste to child?
