Christian Step dad abusing my mom how to protect my mother

Respected sir, The family i belong to is christian(RC). My stepdad has been abusing my mom with words and actions from my childhood.Im 22 year old and i have a sister 14 years old (step sister) and i cant let this guy abuse our mom any more. How can i shelter my mother from this harrasement ? My Mom has been hit by this guy two times she is afraid of this guy, we are living a peaceless life.

Certainly, he cannot abuse your mother or his daughter or step daughter any of the members of the household. The women members are specially protected under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act. You may get in touch with the designated Protection Officer in your locality.

Legally saying it had got remedies and lots f things to do. But heading for a peaceful life with him wont be tat smooth after u initiate some proceedings. Ur mom can start litigations under domestic violence act n other similar proceedures. But life after tat with him wont be recommended. So its time for u to meet a lawyer f ur jurisdiction n talk to him.
if its divorce tat ur mom needs then u may file a divorce application before family court. Meet ur lawyer n decide

The primary aim of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 is to provide protection to the wife from domestic violence at the hands of the husband or his relatives. So your mother can file petition under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 before judicial first class magistrate. The DV Act provides that the aggrieved person may approach not only the Magistrate but also the Civil court, Family court or any other courts and seek relief’s including protection orders, residence orders, monetary reliefs, and/or compensation orders. The D.V. Act has been enacted to provide a remedy in Civil Law for protection of women from being victims of domestic violence and to prevent occurrence of domestic violence in the society. The main right and Remedies given by this act is
1. Right to be free from violence,
2. Right to reside in shared household, and
3. Right to seek remedies.
