Legally saying it had got remedies and lots f things to do. But heading for a peaceful life with him wont be tat smooth after u initiate some proceedings. Ur mom can start litigations under domestic violence act n other similar proceedures. But life after tat with him wont be recommended. So its time for u to meet a lawyer f ur jurisdiction n talk to him.
if its divorce tat ur mom needs then u may file a divorce application before family court. Meet ur lawyer n decide

The primary aim of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 is to provide protection to the wife from domestic violence at the hands of the husband or his relatives.
