Change of name - process to change a toddler's name in India

My son is 17 months old and we want to change his name. We had been to the birth certificate issue office and they say it can't be done. I wanted to know if there is some process to change a baby's name. The office people were just too adamant and refused to listen...want to know the legal process. His birth certificate was applied for manually and not online...

changes on birth certificate only done within 1 month from issue date. In your case if one month has done then you can not do changes on certificate.
if you wish to change name of your son then you can do this with government gazette.

you cannot change birth certificate record. but yiu change your name in govt gazettw, and then change other documents name. each time u will have to give copies of govt gazettee. some documents name will be changes 1 or 2 documents cannot be changes. like birth certificate ,LC.
