The deed must be registered; an unregistered deed has no legal value. Relinquishment can be with or without consideration. Once executed and registered, the brother loses all rights in the property. Mutation in revenue/municipal records should be done afterward.

Yes, it’s true. In UP, transfers between blood relatives (like brothers) have a capped stamp duty of ₹5,000 plus a ₹1,000 registration fee. This applies to Gift Deeds or Relinquishment Deeds for inherited property. It's much cheaper than the standard 7% rate.

However, you do have a limited remedy. You can file an application before the concerned court requesting that your name also be masked in the online records. You will need to explain: • Risk to your reputation or safety • Misuse of your details online • That the case is still under trial and allegations are not proven The court has discretion. In some cases, courts have directed masking of both parties’ identities in online portals, especially in sensitive matrimonial disputes. Keep in mind: even if online records are masked, official court files will still carry full names. Only public display may be restricted. Speak to your advocate about filing a privacy/masking request application before the trial court or High Court.
