Yes in India, you can register your marriage and obtain a marriage certificate even in a state different from where your wedding ceremony took place. Under both the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and the Special Marriage Act, 1954, marriage registration can be done:

  • In the jurisdiction where either spouse resides (with proof of residence, usually for at least 30 days before applying), or

  • In the jurisdiction where the marriage was solemnized.

So, as long as you meet the residency requirement (typically 30 days) and provide the necessary documents (age proof, address proof, photographs, and proof of marriage like wedding invitation or photographs), you can get your marriage certificate from a different state.

Though u r getting married in another state and if u r hving all d documents of ur both of Mumbai , then its possible to apply for marriage certificate in Mumbai. No need to go to the state where u got married . but , u hv to furnish d said marriage proofs before the authority at the time of applying for marriage certificate before the concerned authority.
