yes you need to go to a lawyer and take his assistance and then accordingly as he guides you have to take necessary steps and then in accordance with the law legal action needs to be initiated and thereafter you also have to do medical treatments

you can lodge a complaint at your police station immediately stating that the man had grievously hurt you. At the same time please visit the nearest govt hospital and get a medical certificate from the doctor as this will serve as evidence of you getting beaten up by the man.
