There is no requirement for a woman to change her surname after marriage. Even if she does not do so, she will have a right to her husbands property. All that she will have to show is proof of marriage.

Whether to change the name after marriage or to continue with your maiden name is your choice. Though surname change of a woman is followed as a general practice but opting to keep maiden surname is not illegal. However, if you decide not to change surname, then also make sure that you continue to use your maiden name everywhere be it your photo id proof, passport, bank forms, cheque books, certificates, pan card, driving licence, voter id. The law does not disqualify or deprive you of the right on your husband's property for not changing your surname.
