What do I choose as Home State In DAF of UPSC

This is , 26 Yrs. Old, Male. My Late Father is originally from Bihar and My mother from Jharkhand Ranchi. I have been born and brought up in Ranchi itself. While filling up Detailed Application form (DAF) for UPSC it was asked "Which state would I put as my HOME STATE"? What should be legally correct; Jharkhand or Bihar. My Schooling has been so far from Jharkhand itself and I belong to OBC category. My father's OBC certificate is from Bihar.
You home state would be bihar - as the same of your father and your OBC certificate is also from there. what about the other documents and address proof - it is always better you fill the home state same as of your father state/ or of which you have proof

If your educational documents include Caste certificate is from Jharkhand, you can opt for Jharkhand as Home state. It is your choice. The aspect of Home state becomes important, vis-a-vis posting is concerned as Home state might not be given for substantial time of your posting.
