Ways of transferring the property to the wife

I and my wife co-own a property equally. I want to transfer this property fully in name of my wife so that I can become eligible to claim HRA from my employer by showing my wife as the land lady and paying rent to her. Firstly which is the most cost effective way of transferring the property to my wife like gift deed etc. secondly is there any legal hurdle in claiming HRA this way.

The property can be transferred by way of execution and registration of a Transfer Deed. The stamp duty on transfer between spouse and blood relatives is exempted. It is a legal transfer, so there is no legal hurdle.

You may transfer the property in your wife's name through Transfer Deed if property is located in haryana, this is most cost effective way,else you may execute gift deed or sale deed.
