The correct procedure to correct your name is to get a Rectification Deed executed in your favor from your vendor. Rectification deed reg mistake of age in regd doc. shud b executed. If age gap of what is actual n tht mentioned in doc is not more, then nothing to worry. If gap is more, n if particular about making changes, then rectification deed cud b executed. Legal fee wud b around around 12-15000 approx.
