Procedure in case Show cause notice issued from passport office

I have applied passport in last year sep 2016, but that time i put current address as permanent address and permananent address as current address by mistake. In police verification it shows adverse report. Now after one year i have received show cause notice. What to do in this situation. What will happen if i not submit or visit to RPO
If it is a genuine error and you have all the proofs of address for your current and permanent address then you can reply to the notice admitting that its a genuine error happened by you and request the concerned department officer to amend your application. You can also before replying in writing, if possible, go personally and meet the officer and explain him that its a genuine error, by which ay be he will guide you and provide you with the solution. So don't worry its not a crime its a genuine human error.

Is my passport valid if I had a show cause notice?
A show cause notice is mandatory as it indicates that there are discrepancies in the proofs submitted by you or your police check has been negative. If you do not reply, your passport will be placed on a hotlist and can no longer be used to travel outside India.
Can I travel abroad with show cause notice?
If you have submitted a false/fake passport application or there are any issues with your documents/police verification, then you will be issued an SCN. You can still travel abroad in this scenario.
How do I clear my SCN on my passport?
You should visit the office to explain the reason why you were not present during the police verification. They will then process your application again to the Police Verification if they are satisfied with your explanation.

A show cause notice always states that if you're not present on the desired date place and time for your say then some action would initiate against you. For that you need to check your show cause notice again carefully. If it's not mentioned then there are high chances that your application will be rejected. So appear for the hearing alongwith your right address proofs and rectify the mistake. You should attend it.
