Necessity to pay registration fee to transfer plot from mother to son

One plot is on my mother name now she wants to divide it to me and my brother. So to register it on our name wether we have to give registration charge once again like fresh plot purchase.

Dear client,
Yes, you have to pay fresh registration and stamp duty as the ownership is being changed and new papers are being drawn up. The registration charged is being levied on the new deed. Duty will be less in case of gift than transfer.
