Name correction on 12th CBSE marksheet and certificate after one year

22-Aug-2023 (In Documentation Law)
Hi, I, passed out my 12th class in 1996 from CBSE board. On my 12th marksheet and certificate, my name got misspell as "X SINGH" whereas my correct name is "Y SINGH". This correct name is present on 10th certificates. While applying for admission to college in 1996, I submitted an affidavit mentioning both the class 10th and 12th certificate belong to the same person. On my college degree, correct name is mentioned i.e. "Y SINGH." I need to apply for immigration and hence wanted to get the name corrected on 12th certificates. However, as CBSE has a policy of getting these corrections made within 1 year of passing out, I wanted to explore my options on how to get the name corrected. Can, any one pl guide me. Thanks,

Ya, the CBSE Rule says within 1 (One) year of passing.
you shall have CBSE directed from High Court. For having CBSE directed, you shall have to file a Writ Petition before Delhi High Court. Before filing a Writ petition, you may also choose to file a representation with CBSE for having the needful done. As per rule, they would reject it. Thereafter, you will have to file Writ Petition before High Court.

Yes, you are right in saying that CBSE has a policy of making corrections within one year and now you have delayed for 21 years. Thebnames in certificate can not be corrected now, the only option left is for you to declare by publishing in newspaper nd gazzatte of India alongwith an affidavit of this effect. If you are very keen and if some authority or other country do not honour your affidavit, you can file a writ in Delhi High Court for directions by Honble court to CBSE. But you need the certified and attested copy of your school register, your application and list of students name and details sent by your school in that year to CBSE and will have to price your bona-fide that the mistake was on the part of CBSE and grounds for such inordinate delay in correction of name. However the notification of CBSE regarding corrections is recent and you may kindly give reasonable cause for Delay.
