Is attestation of document necessary to be done by gazetted officer?

Army Recruitment authorities have asked for attestation of candidates documents should be done by a gazetted officer. If the documents are attested by a Notary Public will it be accepted ?

Notary is not a gazetted officer. It is better to get sign from the gazetted officer. If documents are notarised, authority may reject it. So to avoid it better get the documents signed by gazetted officer
