Can I apply for revaluation of my answer paper

06-Jun-2023 (In Documentation Law)
I appeared for a departmental examination in BSNL, where I inadvertently marked the question series D instead of C. This came to my knowledge after the declaration of result. I represented my case for revaluation of my answer sheet as per correct series but management declined. Now I want to take up the matter legally.

Mistake made in the answer sheet cannot be revaluated. You can file an application to revaluate the paper. But you cannot make an application for correction of mistake made by you in the answer sheet.
If you wish to take the matter legally then you can file a writ application in the high court against the department.

Well for this you will have to file a writ petition in the concerned high court. But frankly, I don't see you winning this as you made a mistake and you will have to suffer for it. All I can say is see why the authority has refused to reevaluate and then perhaps you can challenge that.

Once you marked an answer while appearing for an examination, whether knowingly or inadvertently, you will be evaluated for it irrespective of whether the answer is right or wrong. Many candidates inadvertently mark the option which they don't intend to and sometimes, that inadvertently marked answer turns out to be right but then they don't complain because the answer is right. Even you would have done the same if your unintentional marking had fetched you marks. You have every right to apply for revaluation of your answer sheet but as the management has declined, you can file a writ petition against the management in the high court. But because it was your mistake, I don't see a strong case on your side. But still, all the best.
