It is correct that you can file a contempt case if your wife doesn't adhere to the divorce settlement agreement. The key is that the agreement was made part of a court order, making non-compliance a violation of the court's authority. Guidance on Your Situation Contempt of Court: Your advocate's suggestion to file a contempt case is a valid legal path. Willful disobedience of a court order or breach of an undertaking given to a court is considered civil contempt. The penalties for contempt can include fines or even imprisonment.

Dear Sir, . Your advocate is correct. If the settlement terms were: Recorded in court, or Formed part of the mutual divorce order then non-compliance amounts to civil contempt under the Contempt of Courts Act. Contempt is not harassment—it is a legal enforcement mechanism to compel compliance
