WIFE HAS SEPARATED KITCHEN AND NOT SUPPORTING OLD PARENTS

30-Oct-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Wife had separated kitchen from my parents kitchen in the same house. She and her father threatened with dire consequences. My mother is 55 and needs support for her daily chores. Wife is not ready to support her. Can this be treated as a ground for cruelty? Can i file a divorce petition on this basis??

this alone may not be a good ground for divorce. but however if the facts of your case are such that your wife is causing mental trauma and harassment to you, your mother and any other member of your family, that may be a ground for divorce.

Certain aspects needs to be seen whether your wife is causing any sort of violence or mental trauma to your mother and you. It is the moral duty of the daughter in law to care for her old mother in law.

ofcourse this a ground of divorce under cruelty as it is the duty of the son and daughter in law to take care of old age parents and to maintain them. if your wife is not helping in it, it is a strong ground under cruelty and you can seek Divorce.
