Who will get the custody the custody of 5year girl child after divorce

Me and my wife are planning to separate. However I have a query regarding the 5year girl kid custody. Who will get the custody. Is there a way for the father to get the girl kid custody?

normally till the completion of 5 years the custody is given to mother, and after five years the father can also get custody but the father should prove that he is in better position and he will be able to look after daughter better then the mother, and if the court feels that the future of the child will be better if custody is given to father, then looking to the best interest of child and welfare of child the court may grant custody to father, if not atleast the court will grant visiting rights, there is also concept of shared parenting which you can request the court to grant.

Dear Sir, Welfare of the child is most important factor to get permanent custody of the child. If child is residing for the last five years with the mother only then father will get only visitation rights. If mother have no source of income then there are chances of getting permanent custody by the father with visitation rights only to the mother.
