Stridhan refers to all valuables voluntarily given to a woman before, during, or after marriage like jewelry, money, gifts, or property from her family, husband, or in-laws. It's legally her exclusive property and is different from dowry, which involves coercion. In divorce cases, a woman retains full rights over her Stridhan, including the mangalsutra. Even if the jewelry came from the husband?s side, it still belongs to her and cannot be taken by him or his family.
