Sister dairy caught by husband confessing her affair what consequences

My cousin had an affair. She used to write about it in her diary which was read by her husband. Later he made her confess. She had really been a good wife but got lured into an affair coz there were some intimacy issues between the couple. She however regrets for her act and asks forgiveness but husband is badly emotionally hurt and is not ready to forgive her. The wounds are fresh(not even a week ). The affair lasted for a couple of months but the lady was emotionally attached to that married man. She however loved her husband and still loves him more than anything. The affair was found out at a stage when my cousin had finally decided on ending up the affair. What could be the outcome? Please comment.
