Regarding my right to call police when I have life threat from my husb

Hello, today I caught my husband red handed of having extra marital affair....on what's app....which I queried and he beaten me on asking and tried to kill me...I dailled 100 and called police....at night near 11:30 this incident happened...a police inspector came....I told me that he can't do anything...I begged him that pls don't leave me and my 1 year child here he will kill me ...but inspector told me he can't go anything..he is not free ..so I told him to pls tell my husband to leave house but..inspector told me he can't do this....he told me to cane to police station do fir then only he will taje action ...but he didn't bring any lady constable with him so that I can go...I told him to call some lady constable ...the inspector told me no body is free to come...so iwant to know ...this is the way police handle the attempt to murder case???? I cried and begged him that tomorrow you will find my dead body pls do something but he left with out even asking my husband....
