Can 8 years old chats be used/misused as proof in court for Divorce proceedings? which is premarital and she is not in contact with ex from 6-7 years and also conveyed that she had past before engagement itself. Before marriage husband was ok with her past. After marriage his mother started asking about her salary, gold her parents gave, Savings, assets her parents quoting some unwanted examples which indirectly seems to be a dowry demand(eg. girls parents should support financially else should

The past of a wife (or spouse) can be material for obtaining a divorce by a petitioner only if sheh past was criminal in nature, if not already condoned by petitioner. However, all the above are subject to proof.

Dear Madam, Premarital chats are not a ground for getting divorce or filing any case against wife. On the other hand the wife has every right to file domestic violence case and/or 498A of IPC case for committing domestic violence and cruelty against her. The wife may teach a lesson to her husband and his family members by filing a multiple cases to bring them to the terms.
