My wife's 1st daughter is from previous marriage, can I adopt her ?

13-May-2024 (In Divorce Law)
We got married 8 years back and we have 2 daughters, the elder one (11) is from her previous marriage and the younger one (3+) is from our marriage. She is asking for divorce from me and I am concerned about the elder child. Both the daughters stay with me for the last 2 yrs, since the wife had moved out. Both the kids prefer me so I want to know what are the legal ways for me to adopt the 1st child ? And we have no info about the biological father since he used to live in some other country.

since this will be governed by the guardian ship and adoption act you should move a petition seeking the adaption from the court and also you should move a joint petition with your wife in case if she is ready to offer the custody of the children since adoption is very complex procedure in India that's why you should be very careful while moving This petition must consult with the specialized lawyer for this act.
