My wife suffers from incurable mental illness.

17-Nov-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I and my wife are Hindu. My wife suffers from bipolar disorder. It is a serious mental illness requiring lifelong medication and is incurable. This was not disclosed to me prior to marriage. I was told that she has a "mood disorder" and that she may be on medication for a few months. It has been 4 years since marriage. Despite medication, her behavior is quite abnormal at times. She tends to get very irritable and angry. A major instance was when I had a fever and was quite unwell but she did not take me to a doctor. I was ill-treated by her e.g. had a head-scarf snatched away and I could not sleep properly at night. Moreover, I was recently diagnosed with a health condition which requires a supportive partner. If I get ill-treated when I am unwell, then it is very difficult. What are my legal options?

Before proceeding to file divorce, ready with all the document to show that you wofe is suffering from the aforsaid helath problem and it is also need to prove that the said problem is incurable . under the above circumstance you can get divorce. but as per humanity basise we cant insiat you for seaparation and give a chance at last for medication if possible or it if left to you for moving for separation. if legal assistence required you can contact us.

if you are having some kind of proof/ evidence for all the ill treatment meted out to you by your wife and the medical condition that she is suffering from you can file for divorce. but if dhe is not having her separate income to continue to live after separation in the same standard that she is having now with you, you may have to pay her maintenance or alimony which is calculated on the basis of your capability.
