Is mediation discussion is call for 1st time to me but is it going to happen in one day or it takes long time to discuss between both and again we have to come for mediation discussion.
it's depend on case to case and mediators descrition, mediator may give further dates to convince you all and call for joint session , seperate session , may discuss with your in laws etc so you have to wait for sometime usually not ends in a day.

There is 60 days time for amicable settlement. both parties have together and discuss the issue. if the issue ressolve then matter will be ends. The madeater fix the date for session to discuss. On that particular day both parties must present and discuss the issues.
