Marital status after 25 years of sepration

I am asking on behalf of my mother's marital status. My mother got separated just after my birth and the marriage was just 9-11 months ago. She filed for divorce however the case was not followed up by my family and my mother stayed in Mumbai and father belonged to Gujarat. As of today, I need to file Visa and declare my mother's marital status and my father's details. I have never seen my father and don't know his whereabouts as of today if he is alive or remarried. My question is what is my mother's marital status after 25 years of separation as we don't even know if he is alive or married again or do I need to find him and get the court case reopened again. Or is there any easy alternative way to declare he marital status because I cant say she is married because then I need to declare about my father details which I don't have any clue.
