Legal timeline to Remarry After Mutual Divorce

28-Feb-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I was under the impression that you can remarry anytime after your mutual divorce order has been passed by the court. The timeline of 90 days is only for contested divorce cases. However i was recently advised by a lawyer that the timeline of 90 days exists in case of mutual divorce as well ( a recent order has been passed to that effect). Can anyone kindly guide me as to what the law says exactly in this regard. TIA

if its a mutual divorce then its a consent decree and the law says there can be no appeal from consent decree which means that there can be no waiting period in case of mutual divorce. having said that I would suggest you to err on the side of caution by going along with the advice of your counsel. the law is not always about law but its espousal by the different constitutional courts across the country.
