Legal rights during separation and protection from threats

07-Apr-2025 (In Divorce Law)
I’m planning to get a divorce and want to live with my partner (Akash), whom I plan to marry later. My father is strongly against this and has been making threats. I’m worried he might file false cases (like kidnapping or harassment) against Akash. I want to know if I can legally be in a live-in relationship during the divorce, and how to protect both of us from false complaints or legal trouble. Please advise

As an adult, you're free to choose your partner under Article 21 of the Constitution. Live-in relationships are legally recognized. To prevent false FIRs, file a preventive representation under CrPC 149/151 and seek police or High Court protection if threats persist.
