The Supreme Court ruled that a woman who is separated from her husband can request maintenance from him even if she is earning a monthly income as long as it is not sufficient for her to support herself The court also stated that the phrase unable to maintain herself does not require a wife to be completely destitute before she can apply for maintenance

you are entitled to as much rights as a non working lady which is to say that your alimony should be commensurate with your standard of living in your in laws family. as far as your child is concerned his or her maintenance would get divided between the parents again being commensurate with the income of each one of them but over all being with the standard of the child's paternal family.
