Legal advice needed as my wife's parents threatened me

2days back, my wife's parents threatened me and tried to house arrest me. They have shown slipper and used slang on me and my parents. I called police and stepped to near by police station. But no FIR logged on them. As my wife is pregnant they showed sympathy as expected. I don't suppose police is wrong.
1. My question how can I get some case filed because I am afraid they may threaten me again or they Amy file a 498A on me.
2. How to protect myself ?
