Is UK Court Divorce Decree valid in India

Hi, I am a British citizen and was married for 2 years to an Indian lady (citizen). We both lived in the UK. After 2 years we separated and (in 2020) and filed for divorce in 2023. As I am looking to re-marry an Indian citizen is the UK decree valid and do I need to register it in India before my marriage. I was married under the Hindu Marriage Act. Appreciate any advice please.

You can successfully marry another girl of your choice in india or abroad. As the foreign divorce decree is valid in India as well but it's advisable for you to get it registered through the court to avoid any future hurdles. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

If you were married in India being a Hindu your divorce shall be according to HMA. In addition your divorce UK decree SHALL only act as an additinal evidence. You need to hire expert advocate in this regard! Plz b in touch
