Is It Legal To Pronounce Talaq One Time?

Is it legal if a husband pronounces talaq on his wife one time. I know that 3 times is illegal, but is it allowed to pronounce one time?
Hello there!
As per my knowledge, getting divorce by pronouncement 'talaq' is itself not constitutional. It is struck down by the Supreme Court. If you want to divorce your wife, you will have to follow proper procedure provided under Muslim Divorce Act.

Muslim personal law is applicable to Muslim people in regards with the matters related with marriages, divorce and property distribution. Pronouncing talaq three times in one sitting is called as talaq e biddat which is prohibited by sharia and is also struck down recently by supreme Court, following which the govt has made pronouncement of three talaq in one sitting as a penalty offence.
