As per Hindu marriage act, two marriages are not allowed..but as per your question both marriages are legal..illegality depends upon their sequence..if a person marries as per Hindu rites and rituals and then contracts another marriage by court then that court marriage will be rendered null and void and vice versa..rest it depends upon the case..

The first marriage will be considered legal if all the proofs of the marriage are available , also the person need to be Hindu. The second marriage will be nullified on the ground alone of the exaistance of first wife.

In india marriage solemnized through rituals is as good as court marriage so the marriage which is solemnized first is a valid marriage if basic conditions of marriage like age etc. Are fulfiled. However in court marriage the parties (spouses) have to declare their martial status please also check the same
