You need to file a divorce petition in court of law to dissolve the marriage. If you both are interested to get seperated mutually then it is just a matter of 2-3 appearance before court i.e. mutual consent divorce. This is shortest process to get the marriage dissolve. On the other hand if you want to dissolve the marriage on the basis of some grounds then it will take time according to your facts and circumstances.

You can file a petition for mutual divorce. This is possible, if both you and your spouse are willing to get divorced on mutual terms. If either of you does not agree mutually, then this remedy would not be available.

According to hindu rites and rituals , the marriage performed in temple is valid marriage.
As per your facts, it is very important that you are in wed lock for 7 to 8 yrs.
So marriage is done as per law.
Registration of marriage is important but does not nullify the marriage
So officially you have to take divorce from court only.
In mutual divorce, where both husband and wife are ready, then the court will give 6 mths time , after that the court will provide divorce to both the parties.

Hi,
As per Indian laws, registration of marriage is not mandatory and non-registration of marriage does not ipso-facto make the marriage void.
Hence, you have the option of judicial separation or divorce with or without mutual consent.

Thanks.
