19-Apr-2026 (In Divorce Law)
during college days I made a register marriage with my girlfriend, in christian marriage act due to family her situation she got married to another guy. I am not married so far. They are seeing alliance for me, I know if I marry another girl it is void, I dont want to get divorce from the girl I lost contact with her. Can anybody find my previous marriage without me telling about my marriage? is it possible to find during registration of the second marriage?

Regarding your question — it may not always be automatically detected during registration, but that does not make it legal or safe. File for divorce, Avoid taking risk by remarrying without divorce. It can create serious legal problems in future. Let me know if you want guidance on filing divorce in her absence.

Your position is legally precarious and requires immediate correction. If your earlier marriage was validly registered under the Christian Marriage Act and has not been legally dissolved, it continues to subsist in law. Any subsequent marriage during the subsistence of the first marriage is void ab initio and may also expose you to criminal liability for bigamy. You cannot avoid this legal consequence merely because you have lost contact with your spouse. The law recognizes the marriage until it is set aside by a competent court. Further, marriage records are official public records. During a second marriage registration, you are required to declare your marital status. Any suppression or false declaration can lead to cancellation of marriage and legal prosecution. Discovery is very much possible through records, objections, or later disputes. Your only legally sound course is: 1. Initiate divorce proceedings (contested or ex parte if she is untraceable), or 2. Seek appropriate declaratory relief if there are grounds to challenge validity. Do not proceed with a second marriage without legally dissolving the first. It will be void and legally unsafe.
