FIR done and how to get stridhan recovery when police is biased
06-Feb-2026 (In Divorce Law)
Got married in may 2025. Filed complaint in august 2025 for dowry harassment and return of streedhan. Caw cell meetings held but they never cooperated. Just before FIR they filed a RCR mentioning i took away all the personal items clothes cash jewellery. Now police is saying me to recover only bed almari by my own tempo and not focusing on jewellery and personal stuff. I know its a trap. How to deal with it?Procedure to get my stridhan all at once? Going to inlaws house compulsary or not?
Hi there, you'll have to file a case against your husband and in-laws mentioning all the atrocities inflicted upon and mention regarding the stridhan being with them.
As far as RCR goes, it won't affect your case much you'll have to focus on your own part.
However, in order to provide you with an appropriate strategy for the recovery of stridhan I'll need a few details.
It's advisable to contact me and provide requisite details to assist you better.
In this case your are not legally required to visit the in-laws’ house for recovery of stridhan or personal items. Since dowry and stridhan complaints are already pending, you should file an application for criminal breach of trust and also seek recovery through the CAW Cell or Mahila Thana by giving a written list of articles. Further, you may move an application before the magistrate for return of stridhan during investigation. All recovery should be done through police supervision or court order, never privately, to avoid false counter-allegations.
